SNAP Income Limits for 2026
The USDA updates SNAP income thresholds every October. Here are the current limits (Oct 2025 – Sept 2026) and how they differ by state.
SNAP eligibility hinges on two income tests: your gross monthly income (before any deductions) needs to be at or below 130% of the Federal Poverty Level, and your net monthly income (after deductions) needs to be at or below 100% of FPL. But over 40 states use BBCE to raise those gross income limits — sometimes to 200% of FPL. This page breaks down every number you need.

BBCE States With Higher Income Limits
Broad-Based Categorical Eligibility lets states raise the gross income limit above the standard 130% of FPL. Most BBCE states use 175% or 200% of FPL. This means a family that earns too much under federal rules might still qualify under their state's BBCE rules. BBCE states also typically eliminate the asset test entirely.
BBCE States (36)
Higher income limits — typically 175-200% FPL. No asset test.
Non-BBCE States (15)
Standard 130% FPL limit. Asset test may apply.
